The Lamb
Personal Work, 2022
This piece was created in remembrance of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, during the Easter holiday. In thinking about the sacredness of the day, I was reminded of the unique scripture found in Luke 9:51, saying, "And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem." Contemplating this while drawing, I was reminded of the immense love of Christ, in not only heading to the suffering that awaited Him in Jerusalem but being insistent to go to accomplish the will of the Father. The Bible describes Christ as the Lamb of God, and it was my hope to capture the steadfastness and pleasure in the heart of Jesus going to do the will of His Father for our sake. The focus of the lamb's eyes, and the peace of His expression, and even the joyful perking of his ears are to reflect the attentiveness and loving heart of Christ, in being willing and wanting to suffer on our behalf, that we may have eternal life, and may know God again.
